While the 'Palestinian president' Abbas is in New York to ask for the recognition of the state of Palestine with the borders of 1967 you hardly hear that there is something very awkward with that. Recognizing the State of Palestine with the 1967 borders would for one imply the recognition of Israel, and it would make it impossible for all those Palestinians that were chased from their homes because the State of Israel was forced upon them in 1948 by those who won World War II.

President Abbas did not talk this over with Hamas, who was elected by the Palestinian people as their representatives. As you can see in the video below (1)  Hamas doesn't support the bid by President Abbas, which makes it a non-democratic act by Abbas. Hamas doesn't support this bid, nor do many Palestinian Refugees. Somehow this very important element is hardly heard on the news.

The doubtful nature of this act by Abbas is exemplified by an impressive speech by the highly demonised Moammar Gaddafi during an Arab League speech in 2008. In that speech (see video below, 2)
